Dove Medical Press and Library Journal Launch a Year-Long Program Exploring Issues in Open Access

London, UK – Dove Medical Press, in collaboration with Library Journal, today announced the launch of a year-long program exploring issues in Open Access. The program, which will be called Open Access in Action, will commence in February 2016.

Open Access in Action will take an in-depth look at the practical aspects of supporting Open Access, as well as examine the changes on the horizon for publishing and in particular, the Open Access model. The program, hosted on Library Journal’s website, will feature editorial content, video interviews, news and resources developed in tandem with librarians and industry experts.

“Although the Open Access publishing model has been gaining in popularity for some time, academic librarians still grapple with how best to manage content, connect readers with the right information, and support researchers on a limited budget and in a rapidly changing technological landscape. The aim of Open Access in Action is to share best practices and highlight innovative initiatives,” stated Meredith Schwartz, Executive Editor, Library Journal. “We are excited to collaborate with Dove Medical Press, a publisher of Open Access journals, on this offering.”

“We recently celebrated our 10th anniversary in publishing. This prompted us to think about the exciting changes that are evolving, future directions and what we could do to help support librarians, authors and readers in the scholarly space.” explained Kevin Toale, Director, Dove Medical Press. “This program will be an important part of our mission to support the Open Access publishing model and our commitment to it.”

Open Access in Action, part of Dove’s Open Outlook series, will run for an initial period of 12 months. To view the program, visit http://LibraryJournal.com/OpenAccessInAction.
