Dove Medical Press announces Dr David Vance as the Editor-in-Chief of Nursing: Research and Reviews

Auckland, New Zealand (PRWEB) July 19, 2011

Dove Medical Press has announced the appointment of Dr. David Vance as the Editor-in-Chief of the new journal Nursing: Research and Reviews.

This international, peer-reviewed, open access online journal publishes original research, reviews, editorials and commentaries on all aspects of nursing and patient care.

Dr. Vance is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and is a Scientist in both the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center and the Center for AIDS Researcher and has a secondary appointment in the Department of Psychology, working closely with the Edward R. Roybal Center for Translational Research in Aging and Mobility at UAB. Dr. Vance received his Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology at UAB and completed three years of a NIA postdoctoral fellowship at the Edward R. Roybal Center for Translational Research in Aging and Mobility studying cognitive aging, mobility, and cognitive remediation therapy. He has won numerous teaching awards and mentors numerous nursing and psychology doctoral students and faculty.

He says, "Nursing is undoubtedly one of the most adaptable of professions. Nursing cuts across medicine, psychology, sociology, social work, public health, computer science, biology, philosophy, and spirituality. Given the deluge of information nurses must absorb, the introduction of this journal is quite welcome in that it will provide an outlet for novel research and up-to-date reviews that cuts across disciplines, but yet focused specifically for the busy nurse researcher and nurse clinician."

Publisher Tim Hill at Dove Medical Press added, “The appointment of Dr. Vance as the Editor-in-Chief of Nursing: Research and Reviews is particularly exciting at this time. All of us at Dove Medical Press are committed to sustaining the highest levels of editorial integrity, rigorous and constructive peer-review, along with rapid publication times and the presentation of quality research findings.”
