Noteworthy comment: The paper investigated the anti-tumor effects of plumbagin on hepatocellular carcinoma and the underlying mechanism with in vitro and in vivo experiments. The data demonstrated that plumbagin inhibits proliferation and induces apoptosis of hepatocellular carcinoma cells through inhibiting SIVA/mTOR signaling pathway. Plumbagin inhibits the expression of SIVA and subsequently downregulates mTOR signaling pathway, while upregulating the expression of SIVA alleviates the antitumor activity of plumbagin.
