We, the Editors and Publisher of the journal OncoTargets and Therapy, have retracted the published article.

After publication, concerns have been raised by a third party in 2026 about the integrity of the data in Figures 2, 4, 6, and 7 of the article. The authors then contacted the publisher to request a correction to the article.

Further investigation conducted by the Journal and Publisher confirmed the following:

  • unexpected similarities between the image panels for the colony formation assays in Figures 2B and 6B, which are representative of different samples and treatment conditions;
  • unexpected similarities between the image panels for the transwell assays in Figures 4E and 4G, which are representative of different samples and treatment conditions;
  • unexpected similarities between the image panels between Figures 7E and 7G, which are representative of different samples and treatment conditions.

Given the extent of image integrity concerns in the figures published, the Journal and Publisher no longer have confidence in the reported conclusions. Therefore, we are retracting the article. The corresponding author listed in this publication has been informed.

We have been informed in our decision-making by our editorial policies and the COPE guidelines.

The retracted article will remain online to maintain the scholarly record, but it will be digitally watermarked on each page as ‘Retracted’.
