We were notified of the potential duplication of bands in the western blots shown for Figure 7F Pro-caspase-9 and GAPDH. The authors were unable to provide an adequate explanation and could not provide the satisfactory raw data. The editor had concerns regarding the overall integrity of the western blots and determined the findings of the study were no longer valid and requested for the article to be retracted.
Our decision-making was informed by our policy on publishing ethics and integrity and the COPE guidelines on retraction.
The retracted article will remain online to maintain the scholarly record, but it will be digitally watermarked on each page as “Retracted”.
