We, the Editors and Publisher of the journal OncoTargets and Therapy, have retracted the published article.

After publication, concerns have been raised by a third party in 2025 about the integrity of the data in Figure 2 of the article.

Further investigation conducted by the Journal and Publisher confirmed unusual similarities present in the image panels representative of different treatment conditions in Figure 2C.

Upon further review, the Journal and Publisher identified additional integrity integrity concerns in the flow cytometry data due to:

  • unexpected similarities between Figure 2D of the article and Figure 4C of the following previously published article from an unrelated author group:Jiang Y, Wang Y, Liang L, et al.   • unexpected similarities between the flow cytometry plots in Figure 2D of the article and the flow cytometry plots in the following articles that are representative of different samples and treatment conditions. These articles are from unrelated author groups, and were published contemporaneously:Sun Z, Zhang W, Li Q. miR-125a suppresses viability and glycolysis and induces apoptosis by targeting Hexokinase 2 in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma.
