The Editor and Publisher of OncoTargets and Therapy wish to retract the published article. Concerns were raised following the authors request to replace several western blot and cell migration and invasion images in Figures 2, 4 and 6. The authors were unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for why the images required replacing, nor were they able to provide original data that could adequately verify the findings. The Editor determined the reported findings were unreliable and requested for the article to be retracted. The authors were notified of this decision.

Our decision-making was informed by our policy on publishing ethics and integrity and the COPE guidelines on retraction.

The retracted article will remain online to maintain the scholarly record, but it will be digitally watermarked on each page as “Retracted”.
