We, the Editors and Publisher of the journal OncoTargets and Therapy, have retracted the published article.

After publication, concerns have been raised by a third party in 2026 about the integrity of the data in Figures 2, 5, 6, and 7 of the article.

Further investigation conducted by the Journal and Publisher confirmed the following:

  • Unexpected similarities between the cell staining images in Figure 2 that are representative of different samples and treatment conditions
  • Unexpected similarities between the flow cytometry plots in Figures 3B and 6F that are representative of different samples and treatment conditions
  • Unexpected similarities between the Western blots in Figures 5G and 6B that are representative of different samples and treatment conditions
  • Unexpected similarities between the immunohistochemistry staining images in Figure 7 that are representative of different samples and treatment conditions

When informed that concerns had been raised, the authors checked their data and confirmed there are fundamental errors present. The authors have requested the retraction of this article and apologise for the errors.

We have been informed in our decision-making by our editorial policies and the COPE guidelines.

The retracted article will remain online to maintain the scholarly record, but it will be digitally watermarked on each page as ‘Retracted’.
