We, the Editors and Publisher of the journal OncoTargets and Therapy, have retracted the published article.

After publication, concerns have been raised by a third party in 2023 about the integrity of the data in Figures 1 and 3 of the article.

Further investigation conducted by the Journal and Publisher confirmed unexpected similarities between the fluorescence microscopy image panels representative of different treatment conditions in Figures 1G and 3D. Upon further review, the Journal and Publisher identified additional integrity concerns present in the Western blot data shown in Figures 2, 3 and 4.

When approached for an explanation, the authors have responded but due to the time that has elapsed since the experiments were conducted, the authors confirmed that the raw data are unavailable. As a result, these concerns cannot be addressed. The authors have agreed to the retraction of this article and apologize for this oversight.

We have been informed in our decision-making by our editorial policies and the COPE guidelines.

The retracted article will remain online to maintain the scholarly record, but it will be digitally watermarked on each page as ‘Retracted’.
