The Editor and Publisher of OncoTargets and Therapy wish to retract the following article.

We were notified by another publisher that they had received a submission which had a high degree of similarity to the published article. Our investigation determined the other publisher received their submission while the published article was still under consideration at OncoTargets and Therapy. There were no shared authors or affiliations between either version. Both versions appeared to share identical images used in Figures 1A, 1C, 1D, 1E, 1F; Figures 2A, 2C and Figures 3C, 3D. There was also a high degree of similarity in the text used for both versions and both versions shared identical references.

Despite several attempts, the authors were unable to respond to our queries in a timely manner and the editor determined that the findings of the study could no longer be considered valid and requested for the article to be retracted.

Our decision-making was informed by our policy on publishing ethics and integrity and the COPE guidelines on retraction.

The retracted article will remain online to maintain the scholarly record, but it will be digitally watermarked on each page as “Retracted”.
