Daniel Duprez, MD, PhD is Professor of Medicine, holder of the Donald and Patricia Garofalo Chair for Preventive Cardiology, Director of Research of the Rasmussen Center for Cardiovascular Disease Prevention at the Medical School and Adjunct Professor in Epidemiology and Community Health at the School of Public Health at the University of Minnesota. He obtained his MD degree at the Ghent University Belgium in 1980. He did his internal medicine and cardiovascular fellowship at the University Ghent (1980-1985). He did a fellowship in cardiovascular physiology at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, USA in 1985-1986. In 1989 he obtained his PhD at the University of Ghent. He became Assistant Professor, Associate and Professor of Cardiology at the University of Ghent from 1987-2002. Dr Duprez joined the Cardiovascular Division of the University of Minnesota in 2002. Dr Duprez is Fellow of the American Heart Association, Fellow of American College of Cardiology, Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology, Fellow of the American Society of Hypertension, Fellow of the National Lipid Association. He is Vice-President of International Society of Vascular Health and Aging. His research focus is to improve early detection of cardiovascular disease, leading to new effective therapeutic approaches. He has several research grants regarding arterial stiffness in health and disease.
