We, the Editors and Publisher of International Journal of General Medicine, have retracted the following article.

Following publication of the article, concerns were raised that similar findings had been reported previously in an article by the same authors - Naman T, Abuduhalike R, Abudouwayiti A, Sun J, Mahemuti A. Development and validation of a novel nomogram to predict the impact of the polymorphism of the ICAM-1 gene on the prognosis of ischemic cardiomyopathy. Clinical Genetics. 2023;104(3):313-323. https://doi.org/10.1111/cge.14385.

The journal found both articles shared the same title and a high degree of text overlap. The same participants were included in both studies and the same analysis was performed. It was also found the authors did not notify the editorial office of their previous article which had been published one month earlier.

When approached for an explanation, the authors were cooperative but were unable to sufficiently differentiate the findings of the two studies.

Our editorial policies are clear that authors are expected to be transparent about their previously published work and considering this, the decision was made to retract the article and the authors were notified of this.

We have been informed in our decision-making by our editorial policies and COPE guidelines.

The retracted article will remain online to maintain the scholarly record, but it will be digitally watermarked on each page as ‘Retracted’.
