Business Model

Revenue sources

Dove Medical Press is a for-profit open access publisher which receives no government, educational, charitable or any other kind of funding and does not carry paid advertisements. Our income is derived from article-processing charges and commercial re-use (see sections 4 and 5 here) revenues.

Publishing schedule

Dove Medical Press is an open access publisher and all papers are published when they have been accepted and have completed the manuscript production process. All articles are made freely available on the journal's website immediately upon publication. All of our authors receive finalized PDFs of their papers.

We have no embargo period and all the articles published in journals indexed in PubMed Central (PMC) will be submitted to PMC upon publication. Each author receives a personal notification when their article is indexed in PMC.

Archiving

All the articles published in Dove Medical Press journals are archived in CLOCKSS which provides permanent archiving for electronic scholarly journals. We are also a participant in the LOCKSS initiative which enables any library to preserve their own archive of content from publishers. A number of our journals are also indexed in PubMed Central, the U.S. National Institutes of Health's National Library of Medicine electronic depository of full-text papers.
