We, the Editors and Publisher of the journal, International Journal of Nanomedicine have retracted the published article.

After publication, concerns have been raised by a third party in 2025 regarding the integrity of the data in Figure 2 of the article.

Further investigations conducted by the Journal and Publisher confirmed unexpected similarities between the duplicate image panels representative of different treatment conditions present in Figure 2 of the article. Additional integrity concerns were identified in the image panels representative of different treatment conditions present in Figure 4 of the article; unexpected similarities were identified between the Western blot bands shown in Figure 5 of the article.

When approached for an explanation, the authors have provided their original data for Figures 2 and 4. However, due to the time that has elapsed since the experiments were conducted, the raw Western blot data for Figure 5 is unavailable, and as a result, these concerns cannot be addressed

As verifying the validity of published work is core to the integrity of the scholarly record, we are retracting the article. The corresponding author listed in this publication has been informed.

We have been informed in our decision-making by our editorial policies and the COPE guidelines.

The retracted article will remain online to maintain the scholarly record, but it will be digitally watermarked on each page as ‘Retracted’.
