Dr Marietta Stanton is a professor and director of graduate programs at The University of Alabama, Capstone College of Nursing. Her responsibilities include curriculum development and oversight of all masters, post-master and doctoral level nursing programs.  She received her MA in nursing from New York University, a masters in business science from Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island, and her PhD from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She presently holds advanced nurse certifications in the areas of nursing education, nursing administration, and case management.

Dr Stanton has successfully integrated her civilian career as a nurse and educator with a military career as a hospital commander, chief nurse, and senior case manager administrator at the Southeast Regional Medical Command. 

Dr Stanton’s areas of interest include achieving improved outcomes for vulnerable patient populations, including rural populations, the homeless, and military families.  She is an active researcher, consultant, and writer.
