Dr. Azodi completed his undergraduate, graduate, medical school and Ob/Gyn residency training in Ohio. He then completed his fellowship in gynecologic oncology at Yale in 1996. He is currently an associate professor in the Section of Gynecologic Oncology. He also serves as Chief of Gynecologic Oncology at Bridgeport hospital and Director of Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery at Yale Gynecologic Oncology.

He has been awarded the CREOG National Faculty Award for Excellence in Resident Education several times, and has also been the recipient of the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics Excellence in Teaching Award. He has authored more than 50 original articles and several book chapters and review articles. He is actively involved in research, serving as the co–principal investigator for all of the Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG) clinical trials protocols in the section, and as principal investigator or co–investigator on multiple other protocols. He researches and lectures on treatment options for pre–malignant and malignant gynecologic disorders involving the vulva, cervix, vagina, uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, and placenta.

Dr. Azodi emphasizes the importance of minimally invasive approaches for gynecologic cancer. This includes laparoscopic staging, radical vaginal surgery and radical trachelectomy. He has performed multiple successful radical trachelectomies for cervical cancer management with preservation of reproductive potential. He has performed many laparoscopic surgeries for management of gynecologic diseases, including more than 1200 robotic–assisted cases. He is a reviewer for multiple peer–reviewed journals, including Gynecologic Oncology and Cancer. He has an editorial position in other journals. He is board certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and in Gynecologic Oncology.
