Prof. Tamer M. Ibrahim is a Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry in the Faculty of Pharmacy at Kafrelsheikh University (Egypt). He currently serves as Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs.
Prof. Ibrahim has received prestigious awards, including sponsorship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation as an experienced scientist (April 2023–September 2024), which enabled collaborative research projects with Prof. Dr. Stefan Günther in the Pharmaceutical Bioinformatics Department at Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg (Germany). He also received Egypt's State Encouragement Award (2023) for modern technological sciences serving the medical fields.
Prof. Ibrahim earned his BSc from Alexandria University (Egypt), MSc from the German University in Cairo (Egypt), and PhD (2015) from Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen (Germany) under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Frank Boeckler.
His research focuses on combating infectious diseases and cancer through computer-aided drug design (CADD) and medicinal chemistry synthesis. During his PhD and postdoctoral work in Tübingen, he contributed to enhancing structure-based virtual screening workflows (e.g., DEKOIS 2.0 project: https://www.pharmchem.uni-tuebingen.de/dekois/). As a visiting scientist in Tübingen, he developed novel tetrahydrobenzo[h]quinoline derivatives targeting infectious diseases such as leishmaniasis and malaria.
He has co-authored over 50 peer-reviewed international publications (listed as Tamer M. Ibrahim).
