Dr. S. Narasimha Murthy is an Associate Professor of Pharmaceutics at the University of Mississippi. His Masters and Ph.D research at Bangalore University, India, focused on development of transdermal drug delivery systems for prolonged delivery of antiasthmatic drugs. During his postdoctoral research at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo, NY, USA, Dr. Murthy worked on active dermal and transdermal drug delivery techniques such as iontophoresis and electroporation. His Research group at the University of Mississippi continues to work on the development of novel formulations and technologies for the drug delivery into skin and nail apparatus.

Dr. Murthy has published over 50 research papers in peer-reviewed journals and presented over 70 papers in various national and international scientific conferences. He has edited two textbooks titled "Dermatokinetics of Therapeutic agents" and "Ungual and Trans-Ungual delivery of Drugs". He regularly serves as reviewer of grant proposals for International Research Foundations and National Institutes of Health, USA. He is currently serving as manuscript reviewer and Editorial Board member in about twenty pharmaceutical journals. He also has several awards and recognitions to his credit. He is a member of Controlled Release Society and Chair-Elect of Dermatopharmaceutics focus group of American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists.
