Professor Siew Siang Chua is a Professor at Taylor’s University in Malaysia. She is the Head of the School of Pharmacy in Taylor’s University. Prof. Chua obtained her Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons) from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). She served as a hospital pharmacist in Malaysia for about 4 years. She then obtained the Postgraduate Research Scholarship from the University of Queensland to pursue her PhD degree in Pharmacy Practice. Prof. Chua started her academic career with the pharmacy twinning programme between the Institute of Technology MARA (ITM) and the Northern Consortium of the United Kingdom (NCUK) in 1991. In 1995, she was transferred to the University of Malaya, as one of the pioneer lecturers of the pharmacy programme in this university where she served for 22 years. In 2017, Prof. Chua joined the School of Pharmacy in Taylor’s University, Malaysia.

Prof. Chua’s main research areas are related to community and hospital pharmacy practice which include medication safety and pharmaceutical care. She has published numerous research papers in refereed journals and presented in many national and international conferences as well as involved in organizing many conferences. She has also served as a peer reviewer for national and international journals since the year 2000. In addition, Prof. Chua is a very active member of the Malaysian Pharmaceutical Society (MPS) and has served as a council member for two terms. Currently, she is the Assistant Principal of the Malaysian Academy of Pharmacy. She has also served in various committees under the Ministry of Health Malaysia. These included the Pharmacy Board of Malaysia and the Drug Control Authority. She was involved in the development and formulation of the Community Pharmacy Benchmarking Guideline, Criteria for Continuous Professional Development and Guidelines on Approval and Recognition of a Pharmacy Programme in Malaysia. She has been one of the assessors for pharmacy programmes in Malaysia since 1998.
