Dr. D’Souza has over 7 years of experience as a physician in Mayo Clinic, including pain medicine and anesthesiology specialties. He was ranked in the top 1% of physicians in the country based on national clinical knowledge testing required to graduate from residency and fellowship. Dr. D'Souza is currently an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at Mayo Clinic (Rochester). His clinical and research interests include spinal cord stimulation, peripheral nerve stimulation, fibromyalgia, evidence appraisal, and education. He has lectured both national and internationally and has published extensively in neuromodulation and chronic pain.
Dr. D’Souza has served on leadership positions and instructed courses at the regional, national, and international level. Institutionally, he serves as the Director of Neuromodulation of the Mayo Clinic Enterprise. Nationally, he serves on the Board of Directors of the North American Neuromodulation Society (NANS), a premier professional society dedicated to pain medicine and neuromodulation. He also serves in various leadership roles for the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine (ASRA).
Dr. D’Souza has authored over 120 peer-reviewed publications and has been a pivotal contributor in authoring multiple guideline articles in pain medicine. He serves on the editorial board for several high-impact journals in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. He mentors over 30 residents in research and academic medicine across Anesthesiology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Pain Medicine specialties. Finally, Dr. D’Souza conducts several funded clinical research trials in pain medicine.
