Arunachala Nadar Kannan earned his Ph.D. degree in 1990 from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore with a focus on Metal/Air Batteries and Alkaline Fuel Cells. Dr Kannan has been involved in Fuel Cell and Battery research and development for the past 25 years. Currently, he is a Professor at the Polytechnic School of the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering, Arizona State University. Before joining the Arizona State University, Dr. Kannan worked as Chief Scientist at Hoku Scientific Inc., Honolulu managing a scientific research group involved in developing electrolytes and electrodes for Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells towards automotive applications. His area of expertise and research interests in the renewable energy area include development and system integration towards low temperature Fuel Cells, Batteries for automotive applications as well as Solar PV-Electrolyzer-H2-Fuel Cells.
