Dr Matthew Witek

Dr. Witek is an Associate Professor in Radiation Oncology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Medical Director at the Maryland Proton Treatment Center, and Adjuvant Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Witek's clinical practice focuses on the management of patients with head and neck, skin, and thoracic malignancies. The overarching theme of his research is to improve clinical outcomes and reduce treatment-related toxicities through innovative treatment techniques, judicious reduction of treatment volumes, and identifying novel radiographic biomarkers to identify patients appropriate for therapy de-intensification.

Dr. Witek has worked with a number of cooperative groups including the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) Head and Neck guideline committee, the ASCO Unknown primary in the Head and Neck guideline panel, the skin cancer OUTcomes (SCOUT) consortium, ASTRO Head and Neck education committee, member of the quality control committee for several RTOG head and neck trials.
