Neuropsychiatric Disease and Treatment podcast series

This 2-part podcast series presents unique discussions on current unmet needs in schizophrenia between Dr John Kane, Dr Philip Harvey and Dr William Carpenter, clinical experts in the field of schizophrenia, and Mr Carlos Larrauri and Mr Matthew Racher, patient advocates who have been diagnosed with schizophrenia. These podcasts introduce the patient voice that is often underrepresented in the clinical development process. Valuable patient and clinician insights on current challenges relating to the treatment and assessment of cognitive impairment associated with schizophrenia (CIAS), daily functioning, and negative symptoms in schizophrenia are presented, and areas for future focus are highlighted. Both patient authors describe how patient self-advocacy, opportunities for employment/education and creative pursuits such as music can promote recovery. This message is emphasized by a short musical recording from Mr. Larrauri’s and Mr. Racher’s band FogDog that accompany the podcasts.
