Dr. Halley M. Pontes is a Chartered Psychologist of the British Psychological Society (CPsychol) and Chartered Scientist (CSci) of the Science Council. He currently works as a researcher and lecturer at Birkbeck, University of London in the United Kingdom and his main research interests relate to the mental health and psychological well-being issues linked with emerging addictive behaviours such as gaming disorder, social media addiction, and internet addiction. Dr. Pontes has been trained in clinical psychology and received his PhD from the Nottingham Trent University in the United Kingdom. Dr. Pontes is a prolific expert in addictive behaviours that has published several studies across a wide range of refereed journals. He has been previously awarded with the Durand Jacobs Award from McGill University (Canada) and the Early Career Research Award from the Australian Psychological Society (Australia) for his important contributions to the psychology of addictive behaviours and cyberpsychology.
