Dr. Salvatore Bongarzone received a PhD in Physics and Chemistry of Biological Systems at the International School of Advanced Studies (SISSA/ISAS, Trieste, Italy). His doctoral work was aimed at discovering multitarget ligands able to block prion diseases on multiple fronts.

From 2011 to 2013, Dr. Bongarzone completed a Postdoctoral research fellowship co-funded by EU Marie Curie Actions at Institute of Research in Biomedicine (IRB, Barcelona, Spain). During this time, Dr. Bongarzone applied X-ray crystallography to elucidate the mechanism of action of cytomegalovirus inhibitors. 

In April 2014, he joined the Division of Imaging Sciences & Biomedical Engineering at King's College of London (KCL, London, UK) to develop novel positron emission tomography tracers targeting metabotropic glutamate receptors.

Dr. Bongazone's research work and interests span from computational and medicinal chemistry to functional imaging techniques directed to discover and develop new drugs.
He has published 13 research papers and reviews and presented his research as speaker in international conferences, seminars and workshop activities.
