Dr. Klausner received his BPharm magna cum laude from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem at 1995. He holds a PhD in pharmaceutical sciences from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (2002). His PhD work concentrated on the design and characterization of novel gastroretentive dosage forms and involved clinical trials in over 120 healthy volunteers. The patented technology that resulted from his PhD work led to the establishment of a biopharmaceutical company, Intec Pharma, which is now traded publicly.

After his PhD work Dr. Klausner completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship with Dr. Kam Leong at the Department of Biomedical Engineering of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (2005). During the fellowship Dr. Klausner secured a National Research Service Award from the NIH to support his salary. After his fellowship Dr. Klausner joined Midwestern University Chicago College of Pharmacy as an Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences. There he was involved in teaching pharmaceutics and developed a research program about gene therapy in the cornea that led to publications in leading journals in the field.

Dr. Klausner joined South College School of Pharmacy as an Assistant Professor in 2011 and became Associate Professor in 2013. He has been teaching mostly in the pharmaceutics courses and Pharmacy Calculations. He received a Distinguished Teaching Award in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2013, and a Faculty Service Recognition for Exhibiting Commitment to the College and Community in 2016. Dr. Klausner has been a member and a chair of several school of pharmacy committees as well as committees of the AACP Pharmaceutics Section and AACP Council of Faculties. Dr. Klausner is a member of the American Society of Gene and Cell Therapy.
