Dr. Ryouhei Ishii is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry, Graduate School of Medicine, Osaka University, Osaka, Japan. He completed his medical training at the Osaka University Hospital, he then worked under Professor Masatoshi Takeda as a graduate student on the clinical application of magnetoencephalography (MEG) in the Department of Clinical Neuroscience, Psychiatry, the Graduate School of Medicine, Osaka University. Dr. Ishii received his PhD degrees in medicine at the Osaka University in 1999. From 2001 to 2003, he was a visiting scientist at the Rotman Research Institute, Toronto University, Toronto, Canada, and worked under Professor Donald T. Stuss and Professor Christo Pantev on cognitive neuroscience of magnetoencephalography. He then joined Osaka University as an academic staff in 2003. His main research area is Clinical Neurophysiology in Psychiatry, especially focused on the clinical application of EEG, MEG, NIRS, rTMS and tDCS on psychiatric diseases. He has published over 100 papers in renowned journals, and has also contributed to the peer review of more than 30 journals. He has secured over 10 competitive research grants. He has served the editorial boards of 5 scientific journals. He was also a recipient of 3rd Presidential Awards for Encouragement in Research in 2014, awarded by Osaka University.
