Unraveling the Complex Relationship Between Inflammation, Diabetes, and Obesity: A Comprehensive Exploration
Diabetes and obesity are two of the most prevalent chronic diseases worldwide, with estimates indicating that more than 420 million individuals worldwide are living with diabetes and over 650 million individuals are obese or overweight. Both conditions have significant impacts on health and quality of life, and they are associated with an increased risk of numerous comorbidities, including cardiovascular disease, stroke, and certain types of cancer. Despite the significant advances in our understanding of the pathophysiology of these conditions, the precise mechanisms by which they develop and progress remain incompletely understood. This Article Collection explores the role of inflammation in the pathogenesis of diabetes and obesity, with a focus on the latest research findings and potential therapeutic interventions.
