Neurodegenerative diseases: From Pathogenesis to Treatment
Neurodegenerative diseases are chronic disorders corroborated with central nervous system damage. They are characterized by the loss of neurons resulting in neuropsychomotor dysfunctions. Some of these disorders which will be discussed in this Article Collection include Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, Huntington's disease, globoid cell leukodystrophy, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. This research topic focuses on new therapeutic modalities to treat neurodegenerative diseases; modalities that may module the immune system in these pathologies. In addition, the research topic discusses other therapeutic modalities such as cognitive therapy.
