We, the Editor and Publisher of the journal International Journal of General Medicine, have retracted the following article.
Following publication of the article, concerns were raised that images used for Figures 3 and 4 were not derived from the patient described in the case report but were obtained from unrelated sources. Specifically,
- The image for Figure 3 was previously reported by Radiopaedia.org in a case by Yang N, from 2009 - https://radiopaedia.org/cases/primary-sclerosing-cholangitis-psc-1.
- The image for Figure 4 was previously reported by Radiology Assistant in a case by Levy AD, from 2009 - https://radiologyassistant.nl/abdomen/biliary-system/biliary-duct-pathology.
The author did not respond to our queries and was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for the duplicated images or provide satisfactory data for the study. As verifying the validity of published work is core to the integrity of the scholarly record, the Publisher and Editor requested to retract the article and the author was notified of this.
We have been informed in our decision-making by our editorial policies and COPE guidelines.
The retracted article will remain online to maintain the scholarly record, but it will be digitally watermarked on each page as “Retracted”.
