Dr Voils

Editor-in-Chief: Corrine Voils

Dr Voils holds dual appointments as a research scientist at the Durham Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where she was a postdoctoral fellow and career development awardee. She is also an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine at Duke University Medical Center. She earned her PhD in experimental social psychology from the University of Kentucky. Dr Voils' research interests include: 1. identifying the psychosocial variables associated with patient treatment adherence, 2. developing theoretically informed self-management interventions to increase patient treatment adherence, 3. measuring medication adherence, and 4. evaluating methods for synthesizing qualitative and quantitative research findings. Dr Voils is a Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator on multiple VA-funded and NIH-funded studies. For example, she recently completed a randomized, controlled trial evaluating a spousal support intervention to improve patient cholesterol levels and has an ongoing trial evaluating the impact of genetic testing for type 2 diabetes on health behaviors. Dr Voils is a member of the Society for Behavioral Medicine.
