LncRNA NOP14-AS1 Promotes Tongue Squamous Cell Carcinoma Progression by Targeting MicroRNA-665/HMGB3 Axis [Retraction]

The Editor and Publisher of Cancer Management and Research wish to retract the published article. Following publication of the Expression of Concern for this article concerns were subsequently raised regarding the alleged duplication of images in Figures 1, 3 and 5. Specifically,

  • Figure 1H, panel CAL-27, si-NC appears to have been duplicated with the same image from Figure 7G, panel Eca109, si-scramble in Song et al, 2019 (https://doi.org/10.2147/OTT.S214881).
  • Figure 3D, Migration, panel NC mimic, SCC-15 and Invasion, panel miR-665 mimic, CAL-27 appears to have been duplicated with the same images from Figure 4D, panel A549, agomir-NC in Han et al, 2020 (https://doi.org/10.18632/aging.102628) and Figure 6E, panel PC3, agomir-939+pcDNA3.1 in Situ et al, 2020, (https://doi.org/10.2147/OTT.S250101), respectively.
  • Figure 5G, Migration, panel CAL-27, si-NOP14-AS1+pcDNA3.1-HMGB3 and Invasion, panel SCC-15, si-NOP14-AS1+pcDNA3.1 appears to have been duplicated with the same images from Figure 5D, panel H460, si-NC in Zhang et al, 2020 (https://doi.org/10.18632/aging.103564) and Figure 7F, panel H460, si-VPS9D1-AS1+pcDNA3.1 in Han et al, 2020 (https://doi.org/10.18632/aging.102628), respectively.

The authors did not respond to our queries and were unable to provide an explanation for the duplicated images. The Editor requested to retract the article and the authors were notified of this.

Our decision-making was informed by our policy on publishing ethics and integrity and the COPE guidelines on retraction.

The retracted article will remain online to maintain the scholarly record, but it will be digitally watermarked on each page as “Retracted”.
