Consulting Editor: Sreeprasad Sreenivasan (PhD)

Senior Research Fellow, Department of Material Science and Department of Civil Engineering, Rice University, Houston, TX, USA

Dr. Sreeprasad Sreenivasan is currently working as a Senior Research Fellow at Rice University in Houston. His research focuses on integrating complementary multiscale modeling and experiments to design next-generation structural materials with enhanced mechanical and thermal properties. Immediately after receiving his doctoral degree from Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT M), he worked as a post-doctoral fellow at Kansas State University, where he conducted cutting-edge research at the interface of chemistry, engineering, and material science.  He has more than nine years of research experience working on diverse nanosystems and is an author of ~35 research publications. His contributions are highly cited around the globe (>1200 citation and h-index of 21). He published his works in high impact journals including Nature Communication, Nano Letters, Advanced Materials, etc. He is a co-inventor of two patents and eight patent applications. He also has three book chapters to his credit. The high impact and novelty of Dr. Sreenivasan’s research resulted in his works being highlighted in The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal‎, Science Daily, Popular Science, IEEE Spectrum, NanoWerk, Phys Org, etc. During his doctoral research at IIT M (2011), he received the “Best Thesis Award” for his investigations on the structure-property correlation during the chemically triggered morphological and/or compositional emendation of 1D and 2D nanosystems. He is currently a Co-PI of two research projects awarded to understand the interplay between materials chemistry and electro-optics of nanomaterials and to employ their modulated properties for sensing, biotechnology, mechanical reinforcement, and electronic applications. In addition to being a regular reviewer for journals from Nature, ACS, RSC, and Wiley publications, Dr. Sreenivasan is an invited Guest Editor of various special issues of journals based on nanoscience.
