Dr. Xiucheng Fan completed his Medical education in Shenyang Medical College and thereafter he was entitled Doctor of General Internal Medicine and Attending Physician of General Internal Medicine by Shenyang Bureau of Health during his serving years of medical practice in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, China. He earned his Master of Science degree major in Physiology and Nutritional Genomics in Wageningen University, the Netherlands. He received his PhD title in Biochemistry/Experimental Oncology in the year 2009 from University of Basel, Switzerland, where he applied mtDNA and gDNA blood samples and tissue samples from Breast cancer patients to investigate the variations of mtDNA, nDNA and DNA methylation as potential biomarkers for breast cancer by using MALDI-TOF system. He then went to Charite Medical University Berlin, Germany working as a Research Associate Principal Investigator on the project to investigate DNA methylation as a potential biomarker for chemotherapy resistance in ovarian cancer patients. In March 2011 he moved to USA working in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Florida College of Medicine as a Postdoctoral Research Associate. Currently he works on the project of functional genomics and proteomics analysis on transcription factor TFII-I in erythroleukemia cells. So far he has sixteen peer-reviewed publications in English with six first-authorships.
