I obtained my Diploma in Humanities in July 1988 at Lycee Massena in Nice, France. Diploma of “Laurea in Medicina e Chirurgia” at University of Rome “La Sapienza” in 1997. I completed my training in Paediatric Surgery at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” in 2002. To complete my clinical and research training I have spent a period (2003-2005) as Research Fellow in the Paediatric Surgery Department of the Institute of Child Health and Great Ormond Street Hospital in London under the supervision of Prof. Agostino Pierro. Thereafter I have been appointed a Research fellow position at Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital in Rome under the supervision of Dr. Pietro Bagolan (2005-2006).

Since 2006 I have been appointed a Paediatric Surgeon job in the Department of Neonatology at Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital. This multidisciplinary Department treats approximately 500 neonates annually with surgical disorders and has a dedicated follow-up program that follows the patients until adolescence.

I am member of the European Paediatric Surgeons’ Association, European Society for Paediatric Research, Section on Surgery of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and Italian Society of Paediatric Surgery.
I have authored over 50 scientific publications and two book chapters.
I am a Review editor for Frontiers in Pediatric Surgery and I have acted as reviewer for Pediatric Health, Medicine and Therapeutics, Research and Reports in Neonatology, Pediatrics, the American Journal of Medical Genetics, Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition, Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Pediatrics International, World Journal of Pediatrics, Sultan Qaabos University Medical Journal, and Yonsey Medical Journal.
I have given invited lectures to national and international meetings.
In the 2012 National Scientific Qualification I have obtained the qualification for Associate Professor.
