Dove Press, in Collaboration with Library Journal, Extends Open Access Initiative

‘Open Access in Action’ program expands scope; to run for an additional six months

Dove Press today announced an extension to the successful ‘Open Access in Action’ program. Developed by Library Journal and aimed at the library community, the program explores issues in advocating, adopting and supporting Open Access. The program, which is sponsored by Dove Press, will run through November 2017.

“Over the course of the program, we saw widespread agreement for Open Access in principle. But running alongside this was feedback expressing frustration with the practical aspects of Open Access adoption, such as funding and researcher interest,” explained David Greenough, Group Publisher, Library Journal. “The purpose of the extension is to help librarians learn how other members of the library community are tackling these practical challenges. In keeping with the first stage of this program, we will continue to inspect how Open Access is evolving, but the emphasis will shift somewhat to peer-led learning.”

Building on the success of the first webinar “Who Pays The Freight?”, Library Journal will host three further webinars on topics in Open Access. The program will also include new video interviews with industry experts and articles tracing trends in Open Access as seen through the library lens.

“We are delighted to continue to support this program, which we see as an important part of our mission to support the Open Access publishing model,” stated Kevin Toale, Director, Dove Press. “Library Journal, through their editorial excellence and expertise, have delivered engaging content with lasting value. We are excited about continuing this collaboration.”

The next stage of the Open Access in Action program will commence in November. The site can be viewed here
