At the authors request, the Editor and Publisher of Cancer Management and Research wish to retract the published article. Following publication of an Expression of concern for their article, the authors became aware of subsequent image duplication concerns which had been raised regarding their article. The image duplication concerns relate to the duplication of invasion and migration images with the same images from other unrelated articles. Specifically,

  • Figure 2D, A549, si-NC, appears to have been duplicated with the same image from Figure 6F, SK-HEP-1, miR-548b inhibitor+si-NC from Yun et al, 2019 (https://doi.org/10.2147/CMAR.S198615).
  • Figure 2E, H460, si-NC, appears to have been duplicated with the same image from Figure 7H, A498, si-LINC00511+miR-625 inhibitor in Deng et al, 2019 (https://doi.org/10.18632/aging.102156).
  • Figure 5J, H460, si-NC, appears to have been duplicated with the same image from Figure 3B, U2OS, miR-NC from Liu et al, 2019 (https://doi.org/10.3892/ijo.2019.4735).
  • Figure 5J, A549, si-LINCO01426+anti-miR-519d-5p, appears to have been duplicated with the same image from Figure 5D, HeLa, agomir-NC from Wu et al, 2020 (https://doi.org/10.2147/OTT.S232542).

The authors were unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for the alleged image duplication and requested to retract the article. The editor determined that the reported study was invalid and agreed with the authors decision.

We have been informed in our decision-making by our policy on publishing ethics and integrity and the COPE guidelines on retractions.

The retracted article will remain online to maintain the scholarly record, but it will be digitally watermarked on each page as “Retracted”.
