Dr. Gaetano Romano is a Professor in the Department of Biology at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. During his academic activities, Dr. Romano has been conducting several research projects in the fields of public health-related programs for the incidence of breast cancer among ethnic minorities and glioblastoma, identification and clinical validation of tumor markers, tumor immunology, immunogenic cell death, cancer radiation therapy combined with immune checkpoint inhibitors and mechanisms leading to chemo- and/or radiation resistance in malignant cells. 

In previous research activities, Dr. Romano worked in the field of viral vector development for gene therapy applied in cancer and in neurodegenerative diseases, viral oncology and characterization of cell signaling systems in the context of cancer research, neurodegeneration and stem cell biology.

Dr. Romano is currently teaching courses of biotechnologies to generate more advanced models for the study of human diseases, along with the production of novel diagnostics, prognostics and therapeutics for the monitoring and treatment of cancer. His previous teaching activities comprised courses of introduction to molecular and cellular biology, human anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, virology and cancer biology.
