The current mainstay of glaucoma treatment is judicious self-administration of ocular hypotensive eye drops. However, poor compliance to therapy is associated with progressive visual field loss. Sustained release ocular drug delivery systems aim to simplify conventional treatment regimes in order to improve patients’ disease outcomes.
