Noteworthy Comment: The growth factor Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) has long been established as playing a crucial role in brain development, function and plasticity. This review covers many of these aspects and the role of BDNF in a range of disorders including schizophrenia, depression and inflammation-driven disorders of the CNS.
