Dr. Vyas is a distinguished internationally acclaimed surgeon, and researcher, academic leader, business executive, mass media exploit educator, global health pioneer in prehospital care pedagogy, and a trailblazer in the space of medical device innovation. With an extensive experience and successful career as Associate Dean of Surgery Research, CEO, CMO, Chair of University and Community Surgery Department, Program Director Surgery Residency, and Innovation, Research & Quality Head, Dr. Vyas has mentored many academic physicians. He is among the top ten advanced robotic gastrointestinal surgeons in Northern California, performing a high volume of cases with exceptional outcomes.

An advisor to multiple funds & startups, while promoting innovation thru his incubator with four startups. In addition, pioneer of MOOC in the medical space. Dr. Vyas has made surgical, basic science (nanotechnology) and clinical contributions and improved care like substantially decreasing complications of gangrenous gallbladder surgery (35% to 5%); esophageal perforation, a largest series on underwater colonoscopy for increasing trained endoscopists; the largest robotic surgery series on gastric volvulus with hiatal hernia, and more.

Dr. Vyas' eclectic list of major accomplishments includes over 100 peer reviewed publications (h-index 21) and abstracts, 200 invited talks, Editor-In-Chief of two textbooks, Editor-In-Chief of three journals, founder of multiple trauma training centers, and more than fifteen patents published or in the process. Dr. Vyas' incubator has several success stories, and he has a few medical devices ready for prime time. StaplCam is the world's first fully disposable operating room system nearly ready for FDA clearance. SMORTS, a disruption in injury prediction using AI/ML in a smart garment enhancing warehouse industry and sports personnel. Dr. Vyas' philosophy is: "Efforts must be designed to have an impact."
