Dr. Gulshan Sharma is an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, TX. He trained in Internal Medicine at the Henry Ford Hospital Detroit, MI from 1997-2000 and also served as a chief medical resident from 2000-2001. He completed his Pulmonary and Critical Care medicine fellowship training at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. During his fellowship he obtained Master of Public Health at Yale University.

Since joining UTMB in 2004, he is active in development and implementation of various evidence based medicine protocols to improve patient care and safety. He is currently the associate program director for the pulmonary and critical care fellowship. He has multiple peer reviewed publications, including journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine and Journal of American Medical Association.

His research interest includes continuity of care and appropriate end of life ICU use in older adults. He is currently funded by the NIH-NIA.  His clinical interests are in sepsis, adult respiratory distress syndrome, COPD, lung cancer, pulmonary fibrosis and chronic cough.
