Dr Baskin

Dr  Baskin is a Research Assistant Professor in the Center for Infectious Disease and Vaccinology at the Biodesign Institute of Arizona State University (ASU) and an affiliate Assistant Professor in the Department of Comparative Medicine at the University of Washington, where she was trained as a specialist in comparative medicine and did a research fellowship in virology. Dr. Baskin possesses not only clinical skills, but also a firm grasp of public health matters and principles of population medicine as they relate to infectious diseases. As a researcher and scientific project leader, she has spent the last several years working on complex multi-institutional infectious disease projects in collaboration with investigators at the CDC, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Erasmus University Medical Center, and Battelle Memorial Research Institute, among many others. Her work on avian and pandemic influenza, HIV, and SARS have called for in-depth knowledge of biosafety issues and regulations, including risk assessments, which allowed her to develop experience and a strong interest in regulatory compliance. Some of her most notable mentors include Kenneth W Hinchcliff, BVSc, PhD, DACVIM, currently the Dean in the Faculty of Veterinary Science of The University of Melbourne; H. Denny Liggitt, D.V.M., Ph.D. Chair of the Department of Comparative Medicine, University of Washington; Michael G. Katze, Professor of Microbiology, University of Washington; Bertram L. Jacobs, Professor of Microbiology at ASU; and Roy Curtiss III, Director of Center for Infectious Diseases and Vaccinology at the ASU Biodesign Institute.
