Dr. Milan works as a consultant anaesthetist for liver transplantation and hepato-pancreatic biliary surgery at King's College Hospital, London. In addition, she is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at King's College London. Apart from challenging clinical work that involves managing high risk patients undergoing major surgery, she is engaged in practice improvement (i.e. reduced blood and products transfusion, fast tracking in the liver transplantation programme, improvement of postoperative analgesia, auditing current practice etc). She is the principal investigator for several large-scale multinational studies and lead for smaller-scale studies related to risk assessment, peri-operative care, monitoring, postoperative analgesia, outcome data analysis and statistical modelling of perioperative data.

Additionally, she is the editor of two books, author of a dozen book chapters and more than a hundred papers. She is also mentor to several masters and PhD students. On top of her research and publications, she reviews articles and works as an Editor-in-Chief for the Edorium Journal of Anesthesia. She is an invited speaker and session chair at many national and international meetings.

Dr. Milan supports education by promoting the bi-directional exchange of medical professionals at all levels between developed and developing countries. She was the Trainee Exchange Programme Chair for the European Society of Anaesthesiology, where she helped top European anaesthetists at the early stages of their careers gain further clinical experience abroad and disseminate this knowledge to colleagues in their home countries, and she continues to support development in Liver Transplant programmes in several countries. 

In order to continue her educational work in Serbia, she acts as a Visiting Professor at the Belgrade and Novi Sad School of Medicine. She is also founder of charity in Serbia, where she assists young Serbian anaesthetists in gaining international experience. Finally, she was also an ESIAC examiner for at least 10 years, European Society for Intensive Care Medicine for 10 years, and examiner for final exam and postgraduate and PhD studies in anaesthesia in Serbia for 10 years.
