Professor Singhal completed undergraduate and graduate medical training at S.P Medical College, Bikaner and Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston. respectively. He  underwent Nephrology subspecialty training at the PGI, Chandigarh and Albert Einstein College of Medicine (AECOM) , New York, respectively. He joined the faculty of AECOM in 1985. Currently, he is Chief of the unified Division of Kidney Diseases and Hypertension, North Shore university Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center, New York. He is also Professor of Medicine at the AECOM and Professor of Molecular Medicine at the Graduated School of Molecular Medicine, New York. He is an investigator at Feinstein Institute for Medical Research,  New York and National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD. He has published more than 200 articles in peer-reviewed journals.
