Simon Berry is an optometrist in the North East of England. His initial training was in Manchester where he gained his BSc and later his MCOptom. He runs a very busy private practice in Durham as well as being a hospital practitioner at Sunderland Eye Infirmary. He has close connections with Durham University.

He has a wide range of clinical interests both within his practice and at the Eye Hospital. He is a member of the College of Optometrists, the Association of Optometrists and the GOC.

His research interests include development of a spectacle lens that will correct higher order optical aberrations to help patients with macula degeneration, analysis of retinal blood vessels and disability glare. He is currently a co-supervisor for three MSc projects and one PhD project within Durham University.
